In our little company we have problem with getting good lighting.
We have to use normal shadowmap with 2000x2000 resolution to get decent render time and ok movies. But the shadows is blurry.

Our scenes is so big, we would like to use raytrace, but scanline takes so long time. Do you suggest brazil? Weve been trying the
mental-ray but it seems to have some problems with antialising nomatter how much i push it up. and the render time isnt great.

Do you have any suggestion to get ok pictures with each frame render time below 5 minutes.. and still get reasonable lighting?
Anyone with suggestions is welcome to respond. Would be awesome if the guru had time tho ;)

Love your texporter. its amazing:D

The best way would be to test your scenes with the demo/trial versions of the renderers. Lots of leading film Fx studios (such as ILM, Frantic, Orphanage, Blur, Nexus, Pixar etc) uses Brazil, they find Brazil very sutiable for film production and we we are very confident about Brazil's power and robustness in demanding environments such as film industry. You may want to check some of the artist spotlghts and announcementssuch as this in splutterfish web site.

One thing to note that is that new generation renderers are flexable and tuneable for various demands, this, on the other hand, may cause bad results if tuned inproperly. When features are used properly, it's not very uncommon to increase the performance and quality in considerable amounts. Therefore before judging any renderer please make sure that you know what you are doing. We believe that Brazil is the most predictable, robust and user friendly renderer available.

You may download and use test version of Brazil; Rio here, or contact Splutterfish for requesting trial license for newer and unlimited version of Brazil. Please note that trial license requestes are evaluated case by case.

So please try it, learn to use it, eval with your scenes and drop by our forum or IRC server ( to ask questions if you need.
