This is a little off topic, but I was wondering if any one knows of way to "unwrap" a mesh so that it appears "flattened" without having to do it mannually...

It would probably be better to use the material id's, but I'll take waht ever I can get...

ps - texporter is cool, when I get the coordinates set up properly

newer versions of 3ds max (I guess max 5 and above) has automatic unwrapping options in unwrap UVW modifier. In unwrap modifier's own panel there should be a menu item to do that. max's help file should be able to explain the details.
